MELAKA: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has developed an online examinations assessment system which it says is on par with global higher learning prerequisites.
UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Raha Abdul Rahim said the Covid-19 pandemic had a deep impact on the standard of examinations, which prompted the university to develop tech-enabled examination processes and assessments.
“A pool of lecturers and staff members was involved in the project to develop the system which maintains high accuracy of results, credibility and authenticity,” she said on Thursday (Aug 19).
Prof Raha said the system enables students to access examination materials on their respective devices and invigilators would assess them accordingly.
She said the system was developed over the course of three months and implemented by UTeM during semester examinations.
“We are now (looking at) the possibility of commercialising the system," she said.
Prof Raha added that UTeM had also received copyright for the system after making a filing with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
