PETALING JAYA: The hefty maximum RM1mil and RM10,000 compounds imposed on organisations and individuals, respectively, will be clearly spelled out, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342) will allow for the maximum compounds to be increased from the current RM1,000.
He said guidelines for the maximum compounds would be clearly spelled out in the amendments.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali tabled the bill to amend Act 342 for the first reading in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Dec 14), to allow individual offenders to be compounded up to RM10,000 instead of RM1,000 currently.
According to the blue bill, the amendment under Section 25 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill 2021 also proposed that errant companies be compounded up to a maximum of RM1mil.
