Princess Kate had a priceless response after Prince William was once “propositioned” by a 96-year-old care home resident.

In May 2021, the Prince of Wales, 41, paid a visit to the Queens Bay Lodge Care Home, Edinburgh when Covid-19 social distancing rules were still in force.

He met 96-year-old Betty Magee, who was clearly a fan of the future king.

The Prince of Wales later recalled the encounter to wife Kate, 41, as well as actresses Emma Stone and Emma Thompson during a video call.

He said: “I got propositioned by a 96-year-old lady called Betty yesterday who wanted to kiss me.

“She's in a care home with her daughter and I said 'Betty, if I do that I'm going to get slapped on the back of the head for inappropriate social distancing.'

“She said, 'I'll have you afterwards then!'... She was a right character!"

The Princess of Wales laughed before giving her hilarious response, saying: “This is what happens when I'm not around!”

"I remember going to the pub to meet them once. When I arrived, they called my name, I turned around and they were behind me. They were both very sociable boys.

"And that’s what’s so sad about it now, how they’ve gone from best of friends to non-existent really.

"They have become so distant. I know quite a few of Harry’s friends, who don’t hear from him at all now either.”
