       Boris Johnson has put down a ￡30,000 bid on a surprise prop from the set of the Netflix show The Crown - but insiders have no idea where he will put it.

       The former Prime Minister, who led the country between 2019 and 2022, has put down a bid for the replica of the Downing Street door used in the blockbuster series.

       Towering at around 13 feet, the propr will be sold alongside a wrought-iron street lamp.

       According to insiders, Mr Johnson immediately placed a ￡30,000 bid on the item after the lot went live.

       One source told The Sun: "It gave everyone a good laugh. It’s a massive prop so nobody knows where Boris would put it if he wins.

       “But he’s clearly got a touch of nostalgia after seeing it. The team working on the sale has joked he is so keen to get back inside No10 he’s buying it for his house.

       "Boris will be updated about competing bids and the winner will be decided on February 7."

       The iconic door made its debut in the series back in 2016.

       The facade is a direct copy of No10, and includes a letterbox that is engraved with the words: "First Lord of the Treasury."

       The Crown concluded last year, with the final Prime Minister represented within the six-season show being Labour leader Tony Blair.

       Mr Johnson stood down as Prime Minister two years ago, being replaced by Liz Truss.

       However, just over a month into her tenure in No 10, Ms Truss resigned. In the resulting leadership contest, Rishi Sunak took charge in a position he still currently holds.
