KUALA LUMPUR: Eight foreign women, believed to be prostitutes, are among 10 people arrested in raids on vice dens in the city.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the first raid was conducted at a suspected brothel in Jalan Metro Perdana in Kepong at 4.02pm on Thursday (Feb 24).
"We detained two foreign women from Thailand and Vietnam, believed to be prostitutes.
"We also detained a local man, who we believe was the caretaker of the premises," he said when contacted on Friday (Feb 25).
Condoms, a towel, a bottle of lotion and a work schedule were seized from the premises, he added.
SAC Habibi said police also raided another suspected brothel at Taman Usahawan Kepong Utara at about 5pm the same day.
"We detained six Vietnamese women and a local man, the caretaker.
"We seized several items including a bottle of lubricant, a bottle of baby oil, a mobile phone, 11 condoms, and RM630 cash," he added.
Police will step up anti-vice operations, SAC Habibi said.
"We urge those with information on any criminal activity to contact the nearest police station," he said.
In an unrelated operation, SAC Habibi said RM13,000 worth of compound notices were issued to 13 individuals following a raid at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Kuchai Lama on Thursday.
"The compound notices were issued to 12 patrons and the outlet's manager for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
"We also seized sound systems and business receipts," he said.
