KUALA LUMPUR: Two foreign women believed to be prostitutes have been detained in raids on suspected brothels at Jalan Ipoh and Sentul Baru here.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the raids were conducted on Saturday (March 19).
"We detained two foreign women aged 25 and 31, believed to be prostitutes.
"The syndicates operated at budget hotels in an attempt to evade authorities," he said when contacted on Sunday (March 20).
Initial investigations revealed that the syndicates had started operations two weeks ago, he said.
"We seized several items, including condoms, wet wipes, lubricant and massage oil.
"Both suspects have been remanded until April 2 for further investigation," he added.
ACP Beh reminded the public to adhere to the law and avoid taking part in illegal activities.
"Stern action will be taken against anyone who breaks the law.
"We urge those with information on any criminal activity to contact Sentul police at 03-4048 2222 or the nearest police station," he said.
