MELAKA: Melaka MCA has stepped in to help with the shortage of equipment and other necessities at two vaccination centres (PPV) in the state.
State MCA chief Datuk Lim Ban Hong said the party has also been offering assistance in vaccination registration for senior citizens.
Lim said requests have been made for things like air coolers, wheelchairs, office chairs, personal protective equipment, umbrellas and packaged food following MCA’s visit to two PPV on Monday.
He said the items were donated to the two centres – Dewan Bunga Tanjung and Dewan Hang Tuah – on Wednesday after the request for such items were made.
Lim, who is also the party vice-president, said the persons-in-charge of the respective PPV broached the subject on the shortages.“We worked towards resolving all the issues faced by these centres at once, and expedited the provision of the supplies.
“The aim was to ensure that rapid mass vaccinations can be done smoothly,” said the Deputy International Trade and Industries Minister yesterday.
Lim said the medical staff and volunteers at the Dewan Bunga Tanjung Centre had to put up with the humid conditions caused by poor ventilation, a situation that made working conditions rather uncomfortable.
On registration for the vaccination, Lim said seniors in the state had raised their concerns about not getting appointments for jabs despite registering using the MySejathera App.
“We found some of the registrations were incomplete, thus preventing these elderly folk from being recipients,” he said, adding that those who faced problems with their vaccination registrations can approach Melaka MCA for assistance at 06-283 2212.
“MCA will work closely with the Health Ministry to ensure swift arrangements for the vaccination appointments,” he said, adding that Melaka MCA is currently focusing on the elderly and the disabled when it comes to vaccination.
