MELAKA: Shortages of equipment faced by two vaccination centres were promptly addressed by Melaka MCA.

State MCA chief Datuk Lim Ban Hong said air coolers, wheelchairs, office chairs, personal protective equipment, umbrellas and food packages were handed over to both centres on Wednesday (June 23) after requests were made for the items.

Lim said the persons-in-charge of Dewan Bunga Tanjung and Dewan Hang Tuah had brought the matter to the attention of state MCA officials when they visited both centres recently.

"We then took quick action to resolve the issue by sending over the necessary items.

"Our aim is to ensure the vaccinations can be done smoothly,” the Deputy International Trade and Industries Minister said on Thursday (June 24).

Lim, who is also party vice-president, said the medical staff and volunteers at Dewan Bunga Tanjung had to put up with unconducive working condition due to poor ventilation there.

On the vaccine registration process, he said senior citizens had raised concerns about not getting their appointments despite having registered in the MySejathera app.

“We found that some of the registrations were not complete, resulting in the delay,” he said.

Lim said those above 60 who have yet to be vaccinated and needed assistance for the registration could contact MCA Covid-19 hotline number at 06-283 2212.

“MCA will work closely with the Health Ministry to ensure swift arrangement for the vaccination appointments,” he said.

He added that Melaka MCA would focus on elderly folk and the disabled to get them vaccinated soonest.
