KUALA LUMPUR: Be mindful of food hygiene at Ramadan bazaars and report any issues of concern immediately, the Health Minister has advised the public.
Khairy Jamaluddin said he had ordered local authorities and the Health Ministry’s food safety section to step up enforcement at Ramadan bazaars nationwide.
“We have received complaints of food hygiene at Ramadan bazaars,” he said yesterday.
Khairy also advised the public to promptly submit their complaints should they face any food hygiene issues.
“Customers should make an immediate complaint to the relevant authorities so investigations and actions can be taken,” he told the media after launching Malaysia’s first 5G Smart Ambulance at YTL Communications Data Centre in Sentul here.
His comments came following a video that had gone viral since Thursday showing worms in noodles bought by a netizen from a stall at the Putrajaya Ramadan bazaar.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) environmental health director Dr Mohd Helmi Abdul Hamid, in a statement yesterday, said they had conducted an inspection at the stall.
He added that PPj issued a warning to the stall operator.
Meanwhile, at the event, Khairy said his ministry was looking forward to seeing a broader adoption of 5G technology across all sectors in public health, including hospitals.
The smart ambulance service was the result of strategic partnership between a private ambulance provider, First Ambulance Services, and YTL Communications.
“Harnessing the power of 5G to use the time spent en route to the hospital enables effective triage using real-time feeds of patient telemetry and medical imaging.
“5G-based extended reality will transform the way we care for patients and save lives,” he said.
