The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall put on a romantic display in 2017 as they began their south-east Asia tour - and now a body language expert has explained the dynamic of their romance in public. The royal couple had spent a few days apart as the Duchess decided to take days off for a private holiday ahead of a tour of India and south east Asia.
Camilla travelled to Singapore ahead of Charles, who joined her at their hotel before meeting Commonwealth Games athletes.
The heir to the throne and his wife have been happily married since 2005.
The Duchess often joins Charles on his royal engagements but the couple stay at a distance and rarely show signs of intimacy.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, body language expert Judi James explained why Camilla shows Charles keep apart in front of others.
She said: “Any more intimate signals tend to be reserved for the kind of official photos they have taken for birthdays and anniversaries and in these we do get a glimpse of a much more openly fond relationship as Camilla relaxes and switches out of her more formal royal role.”
The expert also pointed out how Camilla makes Charles’ life “more bearable” and gives him “signs of support” when out in public.
Ms James said: “Having witnessed one wife become a public icon who eclipsed him every time they appeared together, Charles seems to have chosen in his second a woman that he does not have to share or compete with.
“Camilla’s body language suggests a woman put on this earth to make Charles’s life more bearable.
“Her gestures show signs of support and flattery and her attentive signals are prompted primarily by Charles rather than the cameras or even their hosts.
