JOHOR BARU: Parti Warisan's decision to choose candidates experienced in engaging with members of the public has proven fruitful, says its president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.
The Semporna MP added that the party has been getting positive response from the people of Johor, especially in the six seats the party is contesting in Saturday's (March 12) state election.
“Even though we just established our presence in the peninsula in December, feedback from the public has been positive.
“Not only from the Chinese and Malay communities but the Indian community as well,” he told The Star at Pasar Muafakat Sabah, Bandar Seri Alam here on Friday (March 11).
With just a few hours left until polling day, he added that he would continue to help his candidates with last-minute campaigning.
“Our candidates have been working hard, have experience and backgrounds in education and professional (fields).
“The most important thing is that they are locals, so they do not need to travel back and forth somewhere else, especially when the people (here) need them,” he added.
Asked about Warisan's strategy to woo voters at the last minute, Shafie said it would continue doing its best to win them over.
“Of course we have (strategies), but that cannot be revealed.
“We have done our best, so I hope we can somehow manage to capture the hearts of the voters,” he added.
Warisan's candidates are Sandara Segaran Arumugam (Bekok), Mohamed Noor Suleiman (Mahkota), Chen Hain Kai (Johor Jaya), Mohamed Ridza Busu (Permas), Lee Ming Wen (Bukit Batu) and Hishammudin Busri (Pekan Nanas).
