PUTRAJAYA: Umno has made public a list of its lawmakers who are no longer supporting Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan National government.

       The names of the 14 lawmakers were mentioned in one of two letters that the party had written to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

       The letters, dated July 30 and Aug 4, were posted on Umno Online’s Facebook page on Monday (Aug 9).

       In the Aug 4 letter, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had written to the King to present the names of Umno MPs who had signed statutory declarations to retract their support for Muhyiddin and the Perikatan government.

       Aside from Ahmad Zahid, who is the MP for Bagan Datuk, the letter contained the names of Datuk Seri Najib Razak (Pekan), Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (Pontian), Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (Lenggong), Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim (Baling) and Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (Pengerang).

       The letter also bore these names - Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin (Kinabatangan), Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (Machang), Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria (Parit), Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris (Jerantut), Ramli Mohd Nor (Cameron Highlands), Datuk Mohamad Alamin (Kimanis), Tan Sri Noh Omar (Tanjung Karang) and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Gua Musang).

       However, it should be noted that on Aug 4, Mohamad Alamin clarified his stance, saying that he will continue supporting the Perikatan government.

       Bung Moktar, on the other hand, has kept mum regarding his stance on the Perikatan government.

       Bung Moktar had, however, signed a letter retracting support for the Perikatan government on July 29.

       Signed statutory declarations from 13 of the 14 lawmakers stating their decision to retract support were also posted on the party’s Facebook page.

       There was no SD signed by Tengku Razaleigh but in the letter, Ahmad Zahid had explained to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong that the veteran Umno lawmaker had never signed any statutory declaration in support of Muhyiddin either.

       “I would also like to confirm that none of the MPs had retracted their statutory declarations that had been presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” the Umno president said.

       Umno also posted a separate copy of a letter by Ahmad Zahid as party president dated July 30, where he sought an audience with the King to present declaration letters by Umno MPs who retracted support for Muhyiddin as prime minister.

       In the July 30 letter, Ahmad Zahid said the decision to retract support for the Perikatan government was in line with a resolution made by the Umno Supreme Council on July 7.

       In a separate letter dated Aug 4, Ahmad Zahid also sought another audience with the King to present the second batch of declaration letters he acquired from Umno MPs who had retracted support for Muhyiddin.
