KUWAIT CITY, May 5: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, Hessa Al-Mutawa, has issued a directive emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the privacy of students in educational institutions across various districts. The bulletin, distributed to all schools and kindergartens, prohibits the filming and publishing of clips, pictures, or any content related to students on personal accounts.

Al-Mutawa underscored that any violation of this directive would result in legal repercussions, in accordance with existing laws and regulations. This measure is part of a broader initiative aimed at preserving the privacy of students, developing plans and programs to ensure their protection from harm, and supervising the implementation of these measures in coordination with relevant authorities responsible for child protection.

The directive is in alignment with Law No. 21 of 2015 concerning children’s rights, reflecting a commitment to prioritizing the interests of school-educated children and preventing any form of abuse.

Furthermore, Al-Mutawa reiterated that this bulletin supplements a previous directive issued by the Ministry of Education, which strictly prohibits conducting interviews or statements with students. These measures are implemented to uphold the privacy and well-being of students and to prevent any potential exploitation.
