PESHAWAR: The police on Sunday arrested a prayer leader for assaulting an eight-year old child in Pishtakhara area here.

       The police said the prayer leader was arrested after the child’s father lodged a case against the suspect.

       According to the FIR, the eight-year-old boy’s father told the police that his son came home complaining the prayer leader had abused him.

       He informed the police that according to his son, the prayer leader had assaulted him twice in the past.

       The police registered a case against the suspect under sections 337 and 295 (a) of Pakistan Penal Code, and section 53 of Child Protection Act, and arrested him.
