HONG Kong movie star Jordan Chan (pic) was in agony and tears of pain after completing 400 push-ups during a variety show in China, reported China Press.
He had to undergo the gruelling physical training of a fireman for the first episode of Be Boiling, which also featured four other celebrities – Max Zhang Jin, Julian Cheung Chi-lam, Lee Seng Hyun and Qi Zhang.
All of them had earlier taken part in another popular variety show Call Me By Fire where Chan had emerged victorious.
In the latest show, which requires celebrities to experience different professions, they were put through the daily routine of a fireman at a fire station in Xinjiang province.
When they were there, they had to do 50 lunges, and run back and forth a 10m stretch for five rounds.
But the toughest task was the 400 push-ups, during which Chan and Cheung were seen struggling as their arms trembled.
Even kungfu star Zhang, with his martial art credentials, found it tough to complete the routine.
> Sin Chew Daily reported that Chinese educationist group United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) has collected 3,145 signatures in support of a campaign for mother tongue education.
Its chairman Tan Tai Kim was quoted as saying that the forms with handwritten signatures and seals were collected from 1,666 Chinese schools, independent schools as well as national-type secondary schools, 1,131 Chinese associations and 348 non-Chinese schools and education groups.
He said these signatures were collected as at noon on Friday.
“The campaign is launched together with all Chinese associations,” he said.
Tan added that the signatures would be submitted to the Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin as well as leaders of Barisan Nasional component parties.
