PETALING JAYA: Hulu Langat MP Datuk Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus is being probed by the Health Ministry for breaking quarantine rules after he was seen out and about in his flood-hit constituency just days after returning from abroad, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
However, if Hasanuddin flouted his seven-day home surveillance order (HSO), the ministry could only fine him RM1,000, he said.
“On Dec 20, the ministry’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) sent an e-mail to Hasanuddin, who arrived in Malaysia on Dec 22, to inform him that his home quarantine application was approved.
“We are now finding out whether he did go onwards from Turkey to Iran, Pakistan and wherever else, and also upon receiving the HSO on Dec 20, why he broke his quarantine,” said Khairy.
Hasanuddin was criticised by Malaysians after he shared a picture of his mountain trip in Iran on Facebook after floods had ravaged his constituency.
He explained that his working trip was planned earlier and that he had been trying to get on a flight home when the floods hit.
