IPOH: Those who returned home from umrah have been reminded to strictly observe the self quarantine order, says Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.
The Perak Health Committee chairman said there had been incidents whereby some folk were taking their quarantine order lightly.
"When they returned home, they need to isolate themselves in a room for seven days.
"We have reports of some welcoming guests at their house and hugging them while some even watched television with their family in the living room," he said during a press conference after closing the state-level National Environment Day here on Tuesday (Dec 28).
"They felt that they were fine because they were not displaying any symptoms," he said.
"I hope those who come back from umrah to have discipline and strictly follow the quarantine order," he added.
Mohd Akmal also said that a local individual who returned home from umrah tested positive for the Omicron variant, the second case in the state.
He said the matter was confirmed while the individual was in quarantine.
"The individual has fully adhered to the home quarantine order," he said.
"We also acted fast. We conducted contact tracing, including those who were in the same bus as him and all tested negative," he added.
