GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has been placed under quarantine since Sunday (Jan 23) after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 patient at an event the day before.
A statement from his office announced that the state Health Department ordered him to quarantine himself at home for five days.
"He is required to take a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on Tuesday (Jan 25)," said his office.
Several other individuals who attended the event have also been marked as close contacts and ordered to quarantine themselves.
The statement adds that the state Health Department is still doing contact tracing to stop the spread.
Chow's office informed the press that he has done rapid antigen tests twice and was negative in both instances.
