SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a remand order on a 34-year-old government agency employee who allegedly abused his position in a tender exercise.
A Magistrate's Court here granted the seven-day order, effective until May 31, on Wednesday (May 25) morning.
The order was signed by senior assistant registrar Syed Farid Syed Ali.
It is learnt that the suspect, who was the secretary of a tender committee accepting quotations for services at the agency in Gemas, was detained at his home in Bahau on Tuesday (May 24).
It is also understood that the suspect had prepared documents for the contract worth RM18,000 and had an interest in the company that won the bid.
When contacted, state MACC director Awangkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awang Ismail confirmed the matter.
He said the case was being probed under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 for abuse of power.
