Man sobs during radio interview for not being able to provide the best for his children

PETALING JAYA: "I really can't afford it. I have five children. I'm sad because my son was left behind in his studies". Those were the words of a father who called in to Suria.fm radio station on Monday (Jun 28) morning.

As reported by mStar, the man sobbed audibly as he talked about the hardship he is currently facing.

Speaking to the Team Pagi Suria show hosts deejays Issey Fazlisham and Ajak Shiro, the caller known as Abang Hamdan, expressed his views regarding the possibility of school students being suspended for not attending home-based teaching and learning (PdPR).

Abang Hamdan spoke with despair about some of the difficulties experienced by his family.

He said that as head of the family, he was not able to provide the necessary gadgets for the PdPR for his kids.

He also said that being a low-income worker, it is impossible to provide the gadgets for each of his children so that they do not fall behind in their studies, let alone teach them at home.

"I'm not well to do, I'm not rich, the need for going digital is also not much for me. I have a normal job, it's not a great job and the salary is not high-paying," said Abang Hamdan.

"It's true what other callers said this morning, lain padang lain belalang... all Malaysians are not the same. Some are capable, some are not," he said.

He also expressed his sadness in not being able to give his best for his children’s education.

"They want to study, I want to help teach them but I'm not good at it. I tell the kids to study, but when they have questions (about lessons), I can't answer.

"I leave the house very early in the morning. I go out to earn a living but my kids don’t go to school. I am sad, there's nothing else to say.

"I have no one else to tell my story to. I hope the higher-ups will take a look at the B40 group," he said while breaking into tears.

The man's story, which has since been shared on Suria.fm's Instagram account, has also gone viral on several other social media platforms, with netizens empathising with his hardship.

DJ Lin from Suria.fm also tweeted asking for anyone with Abang Hamdan's contact information to come forward and share the details with the station.

Many social media users echoed the sentiment, hoping that Abang Hamdan can be found in order to provide help.
