JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested three men, including two Indonesians, and seized drugs worth more than half a million ringgit during a raid at a house in Sungai Rengit near Pengerang.
Johor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said the raid was carried out on Sunday at about 11am following intelligence on an active drug syndicate since February last year.
“Police followed the two Indonesian suspects, who are between 51 and 60 years, driving a Toyota Hilux from Ulu Tiram heading towards Sungai Rengit.
“Once they arrived at the house, which we believe to be used as a transit for the drugs, we immediately arrested the two suspects and a 24-year-old local man,” he said at a press conference held at the state police headquarters here yesterday.
DCP Khaw said a plastic bag with 47,600 pills believed to be ecstasy weighing around 16kg and worth about RM856,800 was seized.
He added the drugs were brought to the local suspect, who would then send the drugs to neighbouring countries by sea.
DCP Khaw also said that the police were not ruling out the possibility that some of the drugs were sold to locals.
“We are tracking down the remaining members of this syndicate, including the supplier.”
