KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (Maceos) has urged the government to re-categorise business events as an economic activity under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) to expedite the industry’s reopening.
Its president Francis Teo said the time was ripe for business events to reopen with 80% of the adult population in Greater Klang Valley already fully inoculated.
“Klang Valley is the economic hub of the country. Business events can jumpstart and accelerate economic recovery,” he said in a statement.
Currently, business events are categorised as social activities, which are only allowed to resume in Phase 4 of the NRP.
