KUCHING: Local opposition party Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) will not join Pakatan Harapan and will continue to remain independent without affiliation to any political alliance, says its president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.
He said PSB had recently supported Pakatan leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister candidate to respect the wishes of voters in the 14th General Election.
“Until the will of the people is changed through another election, PSB will continue to support the parties elected by the people in GE14.“PSB will not, however, enter into any alliance with any party as it intends to remain a fully-independent multi-racial Sarawak party that will fight for the rights and welfare of all Sarawakians regardless of race or religion,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Wong was responding to calls by Pakatan politicians for opposition lawmakers and parties to join Pakatan and unite the opposition.
PSB’s two MPs were among the 105 lawmakers who backed Anwar’s bid to become prime minister.
