PUTRAJAYA: With Malaysia about to reopen its borders to international travellers on April 1, the country has still not come up with an agreement on land travel with neighbours Indonesia and Brunei.

       Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malaysia was already prepared to allow land travel between the two countries, but a reciprocal arrangement had not been reached yet.

       "We are still waiting for Indonesia and Brunei. We are ready on our side. But this needs to be a reciprocal arrangement, so we need to wait for them," said Khairy to reporters after an event at the Health Ministry here.

       From April 1, land travel between Malaysia and Singapore will be opened to all categories of travellers and mode of transport.

       Travellers who were fully vaccinated would not need to undergo quarantine or Covid-19 testing to enter Singapore or Malaysia via land.

       The Malaysia and Thailand governments had also agreed to allow tourists to travel via land through the Bukit Kayu Hitam and Wang Kelian check points in Kedah and Perlis from April 1, with discussions to open other entry points still ongoing.
