IPOH: Kindergarten teacher M. Indira Gandhi wants the police to reclassify her daughter Prasana Diksa’s disappearance as a missing persons case.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with the investigation officer at the Ipoh police district headquarters to get updates about her daughter, she said no one has seen her daughter alive since 2010.

The meeting was held as Indira, who had filed a contempt of court application against the police on Nov 15, wanted to know the efforts taken by the police.

She said right now, the police was looking for her ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah for only jumping court dates.

“If there is a missing persons report, the Interpol will take the matter more seriously as well to locate both Riduan and my daughter.

“Prasana is 13-years-old now, and she is without her MyKad, without formal education, and the list goes on.

“As a mother, I am worried about her safety, and the police must take the matter seriously,” she said after meeting the IO, accompanied by Indira Gandhi Action team chairman Arun Dorasamy, on Thursday (Nov 18).

Arun said Indira had lodged two police reports in September 2019 and April 2020 in Putrajaya asking the police to reclassify the case as missing person.

He said in the report, she had also stated that the person of interest the police should be looking for to seek the whereabouts of Prasana was Riduan’s wife.

On Nov 15, Indira had filed a contempt of court application against the police in relation to their alleged failure to affirm affidavits every month and to submit it to the High Court here from 2014 to 2020.

On Oct 28 last year, Indira sued the Inspector-General of Police, the Royal Malaysian Police, Home Ministry and the government over the authorities’ alleged failure to locate and return Prasana, and is seeking RM100mil in damages.

She had claimed that the IGP had failed and refused to adhere to a committal order and a recovery order involving her missing child.

Both orders were obtained from the Ipoh High Court on May 30, 2014.

The committal order was for her former husband to be committed to prison until Prasana was delivered to her, while the recovery order had asked the court bailiff and the police to conduct a search, retrieve and return the child from Riduan to Indira.

The Star has reached out to the Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid for a response.
