THE song Kesetiaan (Loyalty) by the late Siti Sarah Raissuddin (pic) topped the domestic charts on week 33 of the Top 10 Most Streamed Songs, according to the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia.

Her duet with husband Shuib Sepahtu, Semakin Benci Semakin Cinta (Hating More Loving More) as well as singles Saat Hilang Cintamu (The Moment I Lost Your Love) and Semakin (More and More) also made the list, coming in at fifth, sixth and ninth respectively, Berita Harian reported.

Indigital Music manager Nana Mohamad Rom said Siti Sarah’s passing had reignited fans’ attention on her work.

“Her music videos on our YouTube channel also saw an increase in views; Semakin Benci Semakin Cinta has notched up 800,000 views,” she said.

Nana said they were touched by the attention on Siti Sarah’s work, in particular Semakin, which was written by Shuib.

On Aug 9, Siti Sarah, 36, succumbed to Covid-19, days after delivering the couple’s fourth child.

       > Khairina Izzaty Haizar, 17, and her brother Khairil Hakimi, 14, who study in Chinese vernacular schools in Kuala Lumpur, converse in Mandarin at home, Harian Metro reported.

“I started learning Mandarin at the age of six at a Chinese-medium kindergarten before going on to an SJKC in Jalan Ipoh,” said Khairina, adding that her brother also went to an SJKC.

After the family moved to Seremban, they enrolled in an SMK secondary school.

“To remain fluent in Mandarin, I speak the language with Khairil,” she added.

Speaking Mandarin, said Khairina, had its advantages, among which is learning more about Chinese culture.

“My Chinese friends are impressed with and supportive of my ability to speak Mandarin,” she added.

Khairina felt that knowing the Chinese language would help in promoting unity and bridging the gap between races.

Their mother Normy Md Shaari, 44, said she wanted Khairil to be more confident in speaking Mandarin in public.

Khairina, she said, loved to sing and even won a Mandarin singing contest at her primary school.

“I hope she will continue that interest on social media platforms,” Normy added.
