PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is seeking to recoup about US$10mil (RM41.9mil) allegedly linked to Tim Leissner and former Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd group chief executive officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said investigations are still ongoing and efforts are under way to recoup the money and assets involved.

“We have already called up Rohana to record her statement and have issued a freeze order on her assets and money.

“The amount we are looking to recoup is about US$10mil.

“We will be calling up other individuals to assist with the probe, but I cannot share more information on this for now.

“We need the assistance of the Attorney General’s Chambers to obtain more information from the United States.

“If we need to call her (Rohana) up again, we will,” he told a press conference at MACC headquarters here Tuesday (March 1).

The MACC called Rohana up after Tim Leissner, the former Goldman Sachs Group Inc banker, told a US federal court during Roger Ng’s trial on Feb 22 that he gave the former Astro CEO, with whom he had an affair for a decade, a US$10mil home in London.

Ng is accused of conspiring to launder money and violate an anti-bribery law involving 1MDB funds.

Last week, the MACC issued a freeze order on assets and a bank account belonging to Rohana after Leissner claimed the house was bought using money from 1MDB.
