KOTA KINABALU: Sabah government has decided to allow further relaxation of activities starting Monday (Sept 20), involving 10 types of operations for those who have received their full Covid-19 vaccination.

       This include outdoor, indoor sports and recreational venues for activities involving physical touch, which will be permitted to fully vaccinated individuals.

       Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said further details of the new ruling will be made available when the updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) for Sabah is released on Sunday (Sept 19).

       Among others, group activities like aerobics and zumba in fitness centres will be based on 50% capacity, or maximum of 30 people, whichever is lower, provided that the coach and participants have been fully inoculated, he said in the statement to update daily Covid-19 developments on Saturday (Sept 18).

       “Hiking are allowed for those fully vaccinated, individually or in groups of not more than 50% of the area capacity or maximum of 30 people, whichever is lower.

       “Maritime and aviation training centres are permitted to operate for those fully vaccinated.

       “Fishing activities are allowed from 6am to 6pm within the same district, again with staff and patrons being fully vaccinated with the same capacity limit as mentioned above.

       “Domestic cruise activities in Sabah waters are also allowed with 50% capacity, with the condition that all crew and passengers being fully vaccinated, but no night clubs and pub activities (during the cruise),” he added.

       Masidi said face-to-face meetings will also be allowed to resume for the fully vaccinated, with a 50% capacity of the meeting room.

       Private company offices, meanwhile, are allowed to operate based on the percentage of their workers that have been vaccinated.

       “The operations of alcoholic factories and stores are allowed with the condition that their workers are fully inoculated.

       “However, night clubs, pubs and karaoke centres are still prohibited from operating,” he stressed.

       On the academic front, he said all higher learning institutions under Higher Education Ministry will be open in phases for fully vaccinated undergraduates, but ultimately the decision of entries will be based on the higher learning’s respective premise capacities.
