BATU PAHAT: Pakatan Harapan has unveiled its manifesto for the Johor polls which involves three main thrusts, including a plan to enact an anti-hopping law.
The manifesto’s three main aspects consists of rebuilding the rakyat’s economy; protecting their welfare; and establishing an administration that is clean, efficient and with integrity.
The manifesto called “Tawaran Tindakan Pakatan Harapan Johor” also lists Pakatan’s plan to support the redelineation exercise which has been passed in the state assembly.
It will also form a special committee to study the impact on the larger electorate following Undi18 and automatic voter registration, and will table the proposed findings in the state assembly.
Under the revival of the rakyat’s economy theme, Pakatan plans to expedite the full re-opening of the Johor-Singapore border via the “test and release” method.
“The people of Johor working in Singapore can go back and forth by adhering to the standard operating procedures approved by the Health Ministry,” added the manifesto.
It also plans to give equal allocation to both Government and Opposition representatives.
Pakatan also wants to revive local tourism for industry players in the state.
“Local authorities, state assemblymen and committee members will be given a prominent role to promote and ensure the success of the programme,” according to the manifesto.
Pakatan also included two housing schemes – namely Skim Perumahan Prihatin Johor (SPPJ) and Skim Prihatin Belia Johor (SPBJ) – aimed at helping people in the low-income groups who have difficulty getting housing loans.
The manifesto also pledges to re-introduce the Kad Sihat Johor and tuition vouchers for primary and secondary school students, whose studies were affected during the pandemic.
There are also other schemes, including a pledge to expand rent-to-own housing programmes, government rental houses, schemes for women’s health such as free mammogram and cervical cancer tests, as well as deposit payment of 10% to buy motorcycles for selected bottom 40 (B40) individuals in each district for working purposes.
Also present at the event were Johor Pakatan chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, who is also the Johor Parti Amanah Negara chief, state PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz.
At a press conference later, Aminolhuda said that the state anti-party hopping enactment would apply to all parties, including Pakatan.
Johor will go to the polls on March 12.
