PETALING JAYA: The Transport Ministry will conduct regular engagement with ehailing services to ensure a good partnership between the private sector and the government, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

The Transport Minister said he had a virtual meeting with Grab group chief executive officer and co-founder Anthony Tan and his team yesterday.

He said they exchanged ideas on how to complement each other to maintain safety and security for passengers, drivers, riders and all users of Grab’s services.

“I am pleased to know that Grab is continuously innovating in its labs to balance the speed of its services with the top priority of keeping its stakeholders safe.

“I also urged Grab’s management to assist the ministry with engaging its end users, both riders and passengers, to keep them updated on the public policies and rules that govern the service.

“The ministry will continue to have regular engagement with Grab and other ehailing services to ensure a good linkage between the private sector and the government’s policies in this space,” he said on his Facebook page.

He added that in the one-hour meeting, he together with the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak and Land Transport undersecretary Wan Asraf Wan Salleh were joined by Grab Group COO Alex Hungate, Grab Malaysia country managing director Sean Goh, the public affairs director Ebi Azly Abdullah, and country operations director Rashid Shukor.
