PETALING JAYA: Retail prices for RON95 petrol and diesel will remain unchanged from Sept 23 to Sept 29 while RON97 petrol will go up by two sen to RM2.75 per litre, says the Finance Ministry.
In a statement on Wednesday (Sept 22), it said that the retail price for RON95 petrol and diesel would remain at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.
The ministry also said that to protect consumers from global oil price increases, the government would maintain its ceiling price of RON95 petrol at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, despite increases beyond the current ceiling price.
"The government will continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people," the ministry added.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5, 2019, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
