THE performance of two singers during Anugerah Juara Lagu 36 on Sunday has caught the attention of critics and fans, reported Malay dailies.
Many questioned Siti Nordiana’s lacklustre rendition of the song Angkara, while others said Aina Abdul’s “flower tree” outfit was tasteless.
Harian Metro reported that one of those who expressed surprise with the performance of Siti Nordiana – popularly known as Nana – was singer Azmeer Arif.
“Awat (why) Nana sings like she lacks energy? She’s not singing like usual, is she sick?” he wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, people criticised Aina for appearing in a gown decked with green branches and purple and red blooms during her duet with Khai Bahar for the song Nafas Cinta. “Did Aina Abdul just walk through some bushes before going up to ‘perform’ on stage? A lot of grass (and) trees seem to be stuck (on her dress),” said a netizen on Twitter, according to Kosmo!.This was not the first time that the singer, whose real name is Nurul Aina Abdul Ghani, got more attention for her outfit than her talent.
Her ‘blood’-dripping outfit while she performed her song Sumpah during Anugerah Juara Lagu in 2019 created controversy among fans and audience, who accused her of promoting suicide.
However, she denied this, adding that it was to highlight the theme of a “broken heart” in the song.
> Utusan Malaysia reported that a video of Penang sepak takraw player, Muhamad Zulhusni Basri, 21, having his front tooth stuck in the net during a match has gone viral over social media.
The player – better known as Mat Oni – was playing in the second set of a match against rival team Bomba Fighters, when his front tooth got caught in the net.
“Because of the incident, one of my teeth is loose.
“Maybe it was pulled when it was stuck,” said the Black Panthers player, who considered the video a source of encouragement for him to continue excelling in the sport.
The 55-second video, which was also shared through the SepakTakraw League’s Facebook page, has got over 236,000 views and 1,800 shares since it was uploaded on Saturday.
Some 8,300 emojis of laughter were also left on the post, with many describing it as the funniest closing for a match.
In that match, the Black Panthers won 2-0 in the Division One championship.
