KOTA KINABALU: A drug syndicate that just started its illegal operations in the city has been busted by police.

Four suspects, three men and a woman, were nabbed in separate raids here on Wednesday (Jan 6).

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said in the first raid, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Taman Milek Phase 2 at about 6pm.

The suspect was found with what is believed to be cannabis weighing 68.31g, he added.

Later, a 28-year-old man was arrested at a house in Lido Avenue near the city, where drugs weighing 39.55g were seized.

“We made a subsequent arrest of two people, a man and a woman aged 29 and 30, at a house in Millenium Court near the city and confiscated 211.60g of drugs,” ACP Zaidi said.

He said the drugs worth about RM800 were meant for distribution in and around the state capital.

He added that the suspects were believed to have started their drug-dealing business at the end of last year.

“We believe they receive supplies from the peninsula via courier service and use one of the houses as a repacking and distribution centre,” ACP Zaidi said.

He said the suspects did not have criminal records but the three men tested positive for drugs.

All the suspects have been remanded to help with the investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
