Covid-19: Recoveries continue to outpace infections with 1,330 new cases reported on June 6

       PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,330 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (June 6), bringing the cumulative total number of infections in the country to 4,516,319 since the pandemic began.

       The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 1,326 of Monday's new Covid-19 cases were local transmissions while there were four imported cases.

       The ministry's GitHub data repository, meanwhile, reported that recoveries outpaced new infections for a fourth day in a row, with 1,881 individuals recovering from Covid-19 infections on Monday.

       This brings the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in Malaysia to 4,458,999 since the pandemic began.

       The CovidNow portal also reported that there were currently 21,630 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with 95.5%, or 20,659 individuals, observing home quarantine and 25 admitted to Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres nationwide.

       The portal also said that 924 individuals, or 4.3% of active cases, were seeking treatment in hospitals throughout the country.

       It also reported that 22 cases are currently being warded in intensive care units (ICU), with 11 requiring ventilator support.

       Data from CovidNow also showed that Malaysia's ICU utilisation rate stood at 57.6% nationwide, but the utilisation for Covid-19 cases was at 4.9%.

       The GitHub data repository also showed that there were two deaths due to Covid-19 on Monday, with one classified as brought-in-dead.

       This brings the total number of fatalities in the country to 35,690 since the pandemic began.
