KUALA LUMPUR: The crowd of journalists who gathered since Thursday (July 8) morning in front of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's residence at Bukit Damansara has left after a torrential downpour.
As early as 8.30am, journalists from various news outlets began staking out in front of the guard house at Muhyiddin's residence, hoping to doorstop any ministers or officials who drove by.
Despite the scorching sun, reporters, photographers and videographers waited patiently at the side of the road in front of the guardhouse and Covid-19 SOPs were strictly adhered to.
It was reminiscent of the "Sheraton Move" last year, with the press staking out his house and multiple officials coming in and out.
The only difference is that journalists were allowed to wait in front of his house, back then.
Among the first to arrive was Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, who was spotted entering the premises at 9.40am.
Others who arrived include newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who both arrived about 11.30am at Muhyiddin's residence.
At around 3pm, press members began leaving as it started drizzling.
There was much anticipation over the outcome of the supreme council meeting on Wednesday (July 8) night, as it came hours after Muhyiddin appointed Ismail Sabri and Hishammuddin as deputy prime minister and senior minister (Security) respectively.
Umno president Datuk Seri
Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Umno has officially decided to withdraw support for Muhyiddin as Prime Minister, after he failed to abide by terms set by its supreme council when he was first sworn in last year.
Umno has 38 MPs in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat.
There are 220 MPs out of the 222-seat Parliament at present following the deaths of Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong and Gerik MP Datuk Hasbullah Osman.
