Rishi Sunak took a swipe at Angela Rayner's police probe as he clashed with Sir Keir Starmer at PMQs today.
The Labour leader took aim at the Prime Minister after the Tories suffered a local election drubbing and Natalie Elphicke became the second MP in as many weeks to defect to his party.

He said: "In addition to losing two Tory MPs in two weeks, the Prime Minister has been on the receiving end of some of the biggest by-election swings in history.
"He's also lost 1,500 Tory councillors, half of his party's mayors and a leadership election to a lettuce. How many more times do the public and his own MPs need to reject him before he takes the hint?"

But Mr Sunak replied: "This time last year I reminded him of some advice actually from his own mentor Tony Blair, who had said at the time, 'he can be as cocky as he likes about local elections, but come a general election it's policy that counts'.
"Now, one year on from that advice, what has he managed? ￡28 billion of tax rises, 70 new business regulations, 30 U-turns and a deputy leader under police investigation."

In response, Sir Keir raised two police fines the PM received over partygate and for not wearing a seatbelt.
The Labour leader said: "Well I'm surprised he brought up a police investigation. His record is played two, lost two in relation to police investigations."
It comes as Ms Rayner is facing a police investigation over allegations about her living situation from a decade ago.
The Labour firebrand has faced questions over whether she should have paid capital gains tax on the 2015 sale of her ex-council house and claims she may have broken electoral law by giving false information about where she lives.
Ms Rayner, who denies any wrongdoing, insists her former council house on Vicarage Road was her main residence between 2007 and 2015.

She was registered at the property for five years after she married her then-husband Mark Rayner in 2010, while he was listed at another address about a mile away in Lowndes Lane.

Greater Manchester Police initially said it would not be investigating the allegations but reassessed information and launched a probe following a complaint by Tory deputy chairman James Daly.
The Ashton-under-Lyne MP has promised to resign if she is found to have committed a crime over the accusations.
