She found Peppa dead in the lounge but got suspicious when she discovered Joshua Sharp's ex’s puppy had also died
She agreed when boyfriend Joshua Sharp, 25, suggested that she bury the moggie — but quickly became suspicious when she discovered his ex’s puppy had also died weeks after she met him.
Susannah contacted the ex — who confirmed her pet dog had died after being with Sharp. So determined Susannah dug up her pet and handed it over to vets for a post-mortem examination.
It confirmed Peppa had a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage and the RSPCA were called in. Susannah said: “I was physically sick watching Peppa be dug up.
“But I needed answers and there was still some doubt in my mind that Sharp was evil enough to hurt my cat. He seemed a bit jealous of the animals and would often say the dog got in the way of him cuddling me.
“He seemed to hate any attention being taken away from him. Whenever he was around, the animals acted strangely but he just kept repeating that he was an animal lover. I was so suspicious I approached his ex via Facebook.
“I couldn’t believe it when she said she’d had suspicions about Joshua hurting her dog, Stark, too. She said the dog would whimper whenever she left it in the room with Joshua. The day her dog died, she found him lying on its side, gasping for air and dry retching.”

Susannah, of Yateley, Hants, believes Sharp used a phone to batter Peppa over the head.
The RSPCA investigated both cases and Sharp was tried at Reading magistrates court. The mechanic, of Winnersh, Berks, was convicted of causing death by not protecting the animals from pain and suffering and will be sentenced on January 18.
RSPCA Inspector Sharon Chrisp said: “Hopefully, his sentence will deter this behaviour in the future.”
