Rishi Sunak warned pensioners will be hit with a retirement tax (Image: BBC)
Rishi Sunak warned that pensioners should expect a "retirement tax" under Labour.
The Prime Minister said Sir Keir Starmer was unwilling to match the Tories promise of a triple lock plus policy.

During the exchange on the BBC Prime Ministerial debate, Sir Keir said Labour's position on pensioners and tax is "exactly the same as the Government", adding: "It is the position of the Government at their last budget."
Mr Sunak said: "If you are a pensioner, you should know, there is a retirement tax coming for you. Capital 'r', capital 't', if he is your prime minister."
In response, Sir Keir said: "Pensioners are not going to be better off with a Prime Minister who's making promises that he can't keep because they're not funded."

Prior to this, Sir Keir had said to Mr Sunak: "I think you should show some respect to the audience who want to know what I've got to say about this, without constantly being interrupted."
Taxes, welfare and the economy were one of the major clash points between Mr Sunak and Sir Keir tonight.
Mr Sunak warned voters that taxes will increase under Labour.
“You can have tax cuts with the Conservatives, or you can have thousands of pounds of tax rises under the Labour Party, because he’s simply not being straight with you about what is coming,” the Prime Minister said.
“Mark my words, your taxes are going up if he is in charge.”
Sir Keir Starmer responded by saying Mr Sunak was proposing “unfunded tax cuts” like Liz Truss.
“I’m not prepared to allow an incoming Labour government ever, ever to inflict that kind of damage on people across the country,” Sir Keir said.
But the Prime Minister said the Labour leader "can't deliver tax cuts".
He said: "You are going to have higher welfare under you, and that’s why you can’t deliver tax cuts."
And the pair clashed over plans to bring down welfare spending.
Sir Keir
accused Rishi Sunak of being “out of touch” after the Prime Minister said “those who are able to work, should work”
“I think that those people who can work should work. That’s, I think, a fundamental tenet of fairness in our system which most people agree with,” the Prime Minister said.
Sir Keir Starmer responded: “No, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Mr Sunak interjected by saying Sir Keir “literally opposed” recent changes brought in by the Government.
