KOTA KINABALU: Former deputy home minister Datuk Azis Jamman wants political activist Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar to apologise and retract his claims there are links between Warisan and a drug cartel.

Azis, who is Warisan information chief, said that his lawyers would issue a letter of demand against Zulkarnain, the Gerakan Kuasa Malaysia (G57) chairman.

He said they would file a RM100mil defamation suit against Zulkarnain if he does not apologise or retract his claims.

"I would like to clarify that the funds used to assist people during the Covid-19 pandemic were from the federal government's RM300,000 allocation to each MP and from the state government via the Community Leaders Development Unit.

"We have also lodged a police report and will serve a letter of demand to him at his latest address on Monday and through social media," the Sepanggar Warisan division chief said at a press conference on Saturday (Jan 6).

On Thursday (Jan 4), Zulkarnain lodged a police report and told reporters that he wanted police to investigate the syndicate's link with Warisan, especially the funding for the party's Sepanggar division.
