KEPALA BATAS: Three fishermen are feared drowned after they went missing at sea near Sungai Tembus in Penaga near here.
A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the incident was reported at around 10.45am on Monday (March 21).
"The trio are aged between 34 and 44 years old, went out to sea and were reported missing when they failed to return from their trip," the spokesman said in a statement on Monday (March 21).
The missing fishermen are Mohd Firdaus Samsudin,Hazizul Zakaria and Ruzida Saad
A search-and-rescue operation is still ongoing to look for the victims, he added.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two fishermen were rescued after their boat capsized near Pulau Kendi.
Tan Soon Gin and Thai national Pai San Chu Kaw were rescued after news that they were missing was reported by the public to the Fire and Rescue Department at 8.15am on Monday (March 21).
The captain of the capsized boat, however, is still missing and an operation is ongoing to find the victim.
