KIGALI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda on Friday joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Consumer Rights Day, calling on businesses to embrace technology to accelerate trade.
Richard Niwenshuti, the permanent secretary in the Rwandan Ministry of Trade and Industry, told members of the business community gathered in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, that businesses utilizing technology are advancing.
Various policies have been established to support them, and Rwandans are required to adhere to and benefit from these policies, he said.
"We are encouraging the business community to embrace and use technology in their businesses. Let's embrace technological advancements but provide clear information about the real products and business offerings so that buyers can quickly discern them," he added.

Niwenshuti emphasized that technology speeds up service, improves it, and builds business confidence. He urged businesses to use technology to deliver products to customers who ordered them, similar to what was displayed on the website.
"This is crucial for maintaining customer trust in the business. Ensuring consumers' rights to access good quality and quantity of products is very essential and promotes the rights of consumers," Niwenshuti added.
World Consumer Rights Day is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about consumer rights and advocating for fair practices in the marketplace.
