24 new coronavirus infections recorded in Tokyo on Nov. 13

       TOKYO -- Japan's capital recorded 24 new COVID-19 cases on Nov. 13, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced.

       The capital reported 22 cases the previous day.

       In the first week of November, Tokyo saw a daily average of 20.14 infections. The capital registered 2,176 total COVID-19 cases in October for an average of 70.2 cases per day, a steep drop from September's 31,842 total cases (an average of 1,061.4 per day) and the 125,606 infections (an average of 4,051.8 per day) tallied in August.

       By Nov. 12, 3,158 people had died of COVID-19 in Tokyo since the pandemic began in Japan in the spring of 2020.

       Tokyo has recorded 381,946 infections to date, the most among Japan's 47 prefectures. As of Nov. 12, there were 109 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Tokyo, eight with severe symptoms.
