AMPANG: Five individuals – four men and a woman – have been detained over a roadside fight near Taman Seraya here due to a traffic disagreement.

       Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the individuals were detained in Taman Bukit Teratai and Taman Pandan Mewah between 7.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday.

       He said the fight broke out when a 48-year-old wiring contractor, who was driving his lorry with his son, encountered a traffic misunderstanding with three individuals, including a woman.

       “The contractor used his lorry to block the other vehicles from moving and that resulted in a fight among them.

       “A saw and an umbrella were (used) in the fight.

       “Both items have been seized,” he said when contacted.

       ACP Mohamad Farouk added that two vehicles belonging to the five were also seized.

       “They tested negative for drugs but one of them has a criminal record.

       “The case is classified under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons,” he said.

       ACP Mohamad Farouk also urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Asri Ismail at 010-406 8158 or the nearest police station.
