The Queen looked elegant in a long teal coat and matching hat this morning as she visited the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute at the University of Edinburgh with her daughter, Princess Anne. Her Majesty appeared calm and well engaged with the visit - despite the looming showdown between William and Harry later today.

The Queen wore her statement pearls for the visit, accompanied with a twisted gold brooch.

She wore a teal hat to match her collar-less coat, which had white and black feather protruding from the rim.

The Queen and the Princess Royal were given a tour of the centre as they learned about the university's work to combat climate change.

During the royal visit the two royal's spoke to staff and students about their research into ways we can reverse the effects of climate change.

They also heard from academics about the newly launched Edinburgh Earth Initiative, will be a key part of the University's teaching and research on climate.

Her Majesty and the Princess Royal were also shown a wave energy converter model that has recently been developed.

The Queen later unveiled a commemorative plaque outside the facility.

Towards the end of the visit, the mother and daughter duo met representatives from the Children's Parliament.

They presented Her Majesty with two trees that will be planted as part of The Queen's Green Canopy - a UK-wide planting initiative to celebrate the monarch's Platinum Jubilee next year.

This morning's visit marks the final engagement of this year's Royal Week, also known as Holyrood Week.

The annual event sees the Queen visit various regions in Scotland to celebrate Scottish culture, achievement and community.

It typically takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July.

The event was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This morning's event coincides with what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday.

The day will be marked with a special statue unveiling by her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The commemorative statue will be unveiled at 2pm today in the Sunken Gardens of Kensington Palace.

The event has been highly anticipated as it marks just the second time the brothers have reunited in person since Harry stood down as a senior royal and moved to California, US, with wife Meghan Markle and their two children.

The pair only briefly met at the funeral of their grandfather Prince Philip in April and tensions are understood to remain after the Sussexes' recent spate of TV interviews.
