Princess Anne, the Queen's only daughter, will resume royal trips abroad after a break lasting for several months. The Princess Royal is to travel to the French capital for a two-day stay on October 3.

       In Anne's typical fashion, the visit will be jam-packed with engagements.

       The princess is visiting the city, set to host the next Olympic and Paralympic Games, as a member of the International Olympic Committee to hear more about the work underway to host the 2024 summer tournament.

       As the beloved patron of the Scottish Rugby Union, Anne will also meet those involved in the Rugby World Cup taking place in France in 2023.

       Moreover, to mark the 75th anniversary of UNESCO, the royal will also meet several recent laureates and prize winners of the UNESCO-L'Oréal Women in Science Programme.

       This initiative recognizes researchers who are working to overcome global challenges.

       Next month's trip to France will mark Princess Anne's first official visit abroad in 2021.

       Since the beginning of the pandemic, only Prince Charles and Camilla have travelled outside of the British borders to carry out official engagements abroad.

       In October 2020, the heir to the throne travelled to Kuwait alone to offer his and the Queen's condolences to the country following the death of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.

       One month later, Prince Charles was joined by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, for a poignant visit to Germany, during which they attended Berlin’s Central Remembrance Ceremony.

       In March 2021, the couple visited Athens to mark the Bicentenary Independence Day celebrations of Greece.

       During the trip, the Prince of Wales spoke about his deep connection to the country - where Prince Philip was born 100 years ago.

       He said: "After all, Greece is the land of my grandfather; and of my father's birth, nearly one hundred years ago, in the centenary year of Greek Independence.

       "Later, it was in Athens that my dear grandmother, Princess Alice, during the dark years of Nazi occupation, sheltered a Jewish family - an act for which in Israel she is counted as 'Righteous Among The Nations'."
