Sir Keir Starmer's constituency is the second worst for crime in the country, according to new research.
The analysis by Suffrago found that the Prime Minister's Holborn and St Pancras seat in London had 33,653 crimes per 100,000 people between May 2023 and 2024, up 7% from the year before.

Sir Keir's constituency was second to Cities of London and Westminster where there were 80,007 incidents per 100,000 people.
Liverpool Riverside was third with 30,104 crimes per 100,000 people, while Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood's Birmingham Ladywood seat was fourth on 29,595.
Blackpool South, Middlesbrough and Thornaby East, Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West, Leeds South, Leeds Central and Headingley, Bermondsey and Old Southwark, and Hackney South and Shoreditch complete the top 10 constituencies with the highest crime.

Tory shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: “The Labour Government has already showed itself to be soft on crime and on criminals. They have released dangerous criminals early without the proper checks they promised and their Prisons Minister thinks fewer people should go to prison.
“It is no surprise that crime is out of control in Keir Starmer's constituency under the Labour Mayor of London, with knife crime alone rising by 16% last year in the capital.
“Labour need to get a grip on this issue urgently so the British people can feel safe.”
The research found that the worst areas for crime are in cities, while those with the least crime are more rural.
South West Devon has the lowest level at 3,494 per 100,000 people, while Central Devon and Honiton and Sidmouth are second and third on 3,924 and 4,072 respectively.

"The crime statistics may reveal uncomfortable truths, but with transparency and openness, we can start identifying solutions.
"Of course, this data only paints part of the picture, as it reflects only reported crimes; if incidents go unreported, the full scope remains unseen.
"By making this information easy to understand, we aim to foster greater engagement across the board—encouraging residents to report crimes, police to respond effectively, and politicians to provide the needed support to improve their communities."

The research is based on figures reported by police forces and excludes Scotland, Northern Ireland and Manchester.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “This government has it made it clear it will turn the tide on crime and deliver on its mission to make streets safer.
“We will deliver thousands of additional neighbourhood police and community support officers and bring in tougher measures to tackle persistent offenders.”
