The incident took place near junction 5 for Sevenoaks on Thursday morning on the clockwise carriageway. Emergency services are at the scene, with disruption expected to last for most of the morning.

       According to travel alert platform, Inrix: "Three lanes blocked and queuing traffic for three miles due to accident on M25 anticlockwise after J9 A243 (Leatherhead). Travel time is 20 minutes.

       "Lanes one, two and three (of four) are blocked heading towards the M23 for Gatwick, traffic squeezing past.

       "One lane closed and queuing traffic for six miles due to accident, a few cars involved on M25 clockwise between Clacket Lane Services and J6 A22 (Godstone). Travel time is 20 minutes.

       "After a collision in the outside lanes, with a 15 minute stoppage until 8.05am. Lane four (of four) remains closed."
