A man was fatally shot Sunday evening in Northwest Washington on the block where a shooting was reported earlier in the day.
The second shooting occurred about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Morton Street NW, police said. The victim died, D.C. police spokesman Hugh Carew said Monday, although the person’s name wasn’t immediately released.

Earlier Sunday, a man was shot in the same block about 2 a.m., police said. It was unclear if there was any connection.
D.C. has recorded 145 homicides this year, with killings up 15 percent compared to this time in 2020, which ended with a 16-year high.
