JOHOR BARU: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing person is still ongoing at a sand mine in Felda Pasak, Kota Tinggi, about 48km from here.

       The Johor Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement on Friday (Sept 24) that a 64-year old man was believed to have gone missing, while diving in a pond within the sand mine.

       “The man’s employer realised that he was missing at around noon on Friday and immediately lodged a report at the nearby police department," it said.

       The SAR operation is being led by Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Department senior officer Azman Jantan with 15 firefighters.

       The statement added that five divers from the Johor Fire and Rescue Department Water Rescue Unit were also involved in the operation, as well as the police.
