Flood-hit schools get help from other schools

       SEVENTEEN Tamil schools in Larut, Matang and Selama came together to help five Tamil schools that were badly affected by the recent floods in Selangor and Pahang, reported Makkal Osai.

       The 17 schools called their act Namakku Naame Uthavi (We Help Ourselves), which was mooted by the St Teresa Convent’s school board.

       They collectively raised RM20,000 worth of school supplies and equipment for the affected schools to help them recover and prepare for the new school session.

       The affected schools were SJK(T) Pulau Carey Barat, SJK(T) Dengkil and SJK(T) Taman Permata Dengkil in Selangor and SJK(T) Karak and SJK(T) Sri Telemong Karak in Pahang.

       > Tamil Nadu police arrested two college students who hazed another student who reportedly commit suicide, Malaysia Nanban reported.

       The deceased, identified as Kumar, was said to have leapt in front of a moving train on Dec 23.

       He was said to have been hazed and bullied by a group of eight students from a different college.

       Police are also looking for six other students involved in the bullying who have gone into hiding.
